June 23rd is here...I will miss you all very much!

June, 22nd 2010

Dear Parents,

I am writing you one last time to thank you for sharing your children with me this past school year. It seems like only a few weeks ago I was introducing myself during Orientation Night.

Wow, what a year! To better state that- what a GREAT year! We have covered a lot of material and participated in many fun and exciting projects. I believe we all managed to pull through very nicely. I hope that along the way the children have gained a bit more knowledge, helpful tips on organizing themselves, accessing information and, of course, self-confidence!

Each of your children has brought such joy and happiness to our classroom. I was so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of children this past year. My friends and family often laugh at me when I refer to your children as “my kids”. They are like my own children. They all have touched my life and this school year in very positive and rewarding ways. I hope as the years go by that they keep in touch. Today’s technology can help us continue the relationships we have built. I encourage and welcome correspondences from you and your children. Have a great summer.
Sincerely,

Miss Lopez

Reminders

Hello there,
One more month of school left, still a few things to hand in and work on. We will be having an end of the year math exam. I have already made review sheets for the students to practice what we have learned during the year. This Math exam will take place on May 31st; giving us just enough time to review in class and at home what we already know. We will also be visiting the Armand Frappier museum in June and learning all about germs.
The last PLM is due on May 28th, the last book report is due May 31st. We will still do 2 more spelling tests in English; one more dictée and we will still read one more novel, le chien d'Arthur. We have work so hard these past 9 months, these last assignments should be a piece of cake!

I leave you with a little video that will make you smile and remind us we should never give up:

May is already here!

The month of April was a very busy month. We celebrated Earth day, had a field trip, finished the French Exam, and are so happy the Montreal Canadians made it to the playoffs.
May is here and we are still working nonstop. We began our end of cycle Math exams...some are difficult, some easy, but so very long! We've been preparing for them all year, so we should be okay.
We can't wait until the summer holidays, when we'll be ready to relax after all the work grade 4th brought for us.
Here are some pictures of our class during the Earth Day...

p.s: Thank you for all the birthday wishes :)

Visit to The Château Ramezay Museum

We had lots of fun on our outing today. We visited The Château Ramezay Museum. We got dressed-up as les premiers colons did, we were able to use our knowledge of la Nouvelle-France, and practice writing with a quill pen and ink.
Check out the website to Château Ramezay Museum:

Enjoy the pictures of our visit...We weren't able to use the flash of our cameras, but you can still see how cute we looked!

The Allouettes

Hi there!
It has been a very busy month of March. March break, report cards, projects and lots of activities.
First and foremost I would like to Congratulate Justin P. and Dylan because on March 28th their hockey team, The Blizzards of St-Leonard, won the Montreal Championship in the Atom C category. Way to go boys, the Montreal Canadians should take a page from your book! Their team will be representing the Montreal Region in the Inter-Regional Championship on Friday and Saturday in the Shawinigan area. Good luck boys, you will do great!!!
There will be some pictures coming up...Stay tuned!

To continue with more sport news, The Montreal Allouettes came to PDC to talk to our cycle 3 students as well as to shoot some hoops. Despite their height differences, our grade six students, lead by Miss Patricia, were able to hold their own while they play some very entertaining basketball.

Here are some pictures:

Stay tuned for more fun pictures as well as very important information concerning the French end of cycle exam.
Happy Easter every one!

January 2010

Hi everybody!
We have begun the New Year with lots of work and fun activities in our classroom. I would like to take the time to wish you all you a happy new year, lots of health and happiness in the year 2010.
We have been back at school for about 4 weeks already. Projects were started, some are finished and others just beginning.

We are having so much fun reading our new English novel Because of Winn Dixie; we made a scrapbook which will help us understand the novel so much better. We were introduced to a protractor, not a transformer, but an instrument that helps us measure angles. We will be learning about symmetry and perimeters as well.
All in all, 2010 has started and we are working hard and having fun at the same time. Here are some fun pictures from class:
